Gov. Joet signs two partnership agreements

“Today, we are happy to be signing an agreement with San Miguel and SM for their adoption of mangrove areas in the Municipality of Abucay and the City of Balanga, respectively,” Governor Joet Garcia said during the ‘Pagpupugay sa Bidang Pilipino: The 35th National Disaster Resilience Month Culminating Activity’ held at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City, yesterday, July 31.

In his presentation regarding the current status of Project Transform in Bataan, Gov. Joet enumerated the vital outcomes under the project, such as the creation of 1Bataan Base Map or 1BBM, the use of electric vehicles for government services and public transportation, partnership with GNPower for the rehabilitation of Mangrove area in Orani and preservation of endangered Pawikan or sea turtles in Morong. Gathering all stakeholders towards a resilient Philippines for the NDRM 2023, Gov. Joet emphasized, “Resilience is everybody’s business.”

Aside from signing two partnership agreements for Baka1Bataan: a mangrove rehabilitation and protection project in the province of Bataan, the Governor also launched the Barangay resilience scorecard. “The Barangay Resilience Scorecard will be a mechanism to ensure that human development, infrastructure, economic, and environmental resilience will be understood and practiced by each of the 237 barangays in Bataan,” he added.

Said scorecard tailor-fits the need of each of the barangays for local resilience, aiming to increase the number of lives alleviated from poverty, increase life expectancy, reduce injury and loss of lives during times of disasters, leading to a sustained environment.

Towards the end of his speech, Governor Joet underscored, “The Partnerships brought about by Project Transform are proving to be beneficial for Bataan. In the New Normal, we are mindful of the various risks our province faces but we are hopeful that with the support of all of you, we will be transformed into a smart, safe, and sustainable Province of Bataan.”
